cutty.dev — URL shortener without VC, without ad-tech, hosting in the EU. Built by one person.

What it is

Short links for people who need something simple — paste a long URL, get cutty.dev/xyz. No need to buy a package, no need to enter a card, no onboarding creators. Optional account for the first link, required for the panel with history and statistics.

Why it was created

Polish and European companies need a URL shortener — but most of the market is American SaaS with tracking, data transfer to the USA, paywall for basic features. cutty.dev is an alternative: data stays in the EU, no user profiling, no cross-site tracking, basic features will be free forever.

The second reason — I wanted a tool that I could use myself for my links without knowing that someone is counting clicks for advertising on my behalf. I didn't find such a tool, so I wrote one.

For whom

• Online sales — short link in Instagram bio, on print, in SMS to the customer. Fits where a 200-character URL won't.
• Multi-channel marketing — one link, multiple sources, automatic UTM, click statistics per campaign.
• Documentation and education — sending to resources that change. The fixed ending cutty.dev/poradnik is independent of the backend URL.
• Events with a deadline — link with an expiration date, after the event returns 410 instead of leaking to the index.

How it works

cutty.dev is hosted on a server in the European Union with its own TLS certificate. The entire database stays on that machine — no external analytics providers, no metrics transfer outside the EU. Translations into 12 languages are done locally by an AI model (without sending queries to US/CN API).

For a regular user this means: fast, private, no third-party cookies. For a user aware of compliance (GDPR, NIS2) — no data transfer outside the EU.

Roadmap

Currently everything is free. Pro and Team plans will be introduced when more people start using it — I won't promise a timeline because I don't want to back out of something. The basic "shorten a link, share it, see statistics" will remain free forever.
