Frequently Asked Questions

Questions and Answers

Everything that most often appears in emails — in one place. If you can't find the answer, write.

How much does cutty.dev cost?
Everything that's on the site today — unlimited links, passwords, QR codes, statistics, 12 languages, 4 ways to log in — is free. No card, no trial period. Pro and Team plans will be introduced in the future, but current features will remain free.
Do I need an account to shorten a link?
Not to the first link. Without logging in, you can create up to 30 anonymous links per hour from one IP address. A free account unlocks the history panel, editing, statistics, and CSV export — plus increases the limit to 120 links per hour.
Are my data secure?
The entire database remains on the server located in the European Union. No data transfer takes place to the USA or China. Passwords for links are stored in encrypted form (industry standards), never in plain text. Statistics do not include profiling or tracking on websites — we count clicks, but do not identify who is clicking.
What happens if I delete my account?
We permanently delete your email, sessions, and login data. The endings of your links are blocked forever (a promise of permanence — no one else will take them), but they return a 404 instead of redirecting. At any time you can come back — your email is free to create a new account.
How long do links last?
No expiration date unless you set it yourself. You can set an expiration date on each link (it returns 410 Gone after that) or a maximum number of clicks (it also returns 410 after exceeding it). Without these settings, the link works indefinitely.
Can I use my own ending?
Yes — on the form on the homepage, select "Advanced options" and enter any ending of 3–40 characters (letters, digits, underscore, hyphen). For example, cutty.dev/oferta instead of random cutty.dev/k3n9X. The ending is fixed — once created, it never goes back to the pool, even after deleting the link.
How to protect the link with a password?
In the form or link editing, select "Advanced Options" and enter a password. Visitors will see an unlock screen instead of a direct redirect. After entering the correct password, the session on this link lasts 24 hours — they don't need to enter it again with each click.
Are there any limits?
Anonymously: 30 links per hour from one IP address. Logged in: 120 links per hour. No limit on the total number of links, number of clicks, or account lifespan. The free plan will remain free up to at least 1000 users.
Can I use my own domain?
Currently not — all links under cutty.dev/xxx. Your own domain (your-brand.com/xxx) planned in the Pro plan in the future, when more people start using cutty.dev. Sign up for the Pro waitlist so we can notify you.
What about the anonymous links I created before logging in?
When you create an account, you'll see a banner "Take over your links" in the dashboard — click it, and anonymous links created in the last 365 days from the same device will be assigned to your account. Then you'll be able to edit, delete, and view statistics for them.
